We believe all youth deserve a safe home, access to opportunities, and a place to belong. At Zero Ceiling, we give youth access to stable housing, a job, mountain adventures, and the support they deserve so they can thrive.
Zero Ceiling was founded in 1997 by Whistler locals who believed everyone deserves to experience the power of the mountains. They carved out space for marginalized youth to live, work, and play in Whistler. Over the last three decades, we’ve empowered thousands of youth to connect with the mountains and thrive.
We are requesting support from 100 Men Who Care for our Our Access to the Outdoors Program. The program provides equitable access to skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and mountain biking for marginalized youth aged 16-27. In BC, the majority of residents have access to outdoor recreation, but the most vulnerable young people do not. Our programs are designed to bridge that gap and provide access to the physical and mental health benefits of outdoor recreation for youth who have been marginalized, including Indigenous, visible minority, and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. The program is low-barrier, providing the equipment, instruction, and access required by youth, at no cost to themselves. The program connects over 300 young people to outdoor recreation, the mountain and Whistlers culture each year.
Through this program, youth don’t just learn outdoor skills—they build confidence, community, and a sense of belonging in spaces they have historically been excluded from. Support from 100 Men Who Care will ensure we can continue removing barriers and creating meaningful access to the outdoors for the young people who need it most.
In addition, Whistler MAC and the Pemberton & District Health Care Foundation each received $2,000.
