About us

Local. Impact. Efficient.

100 Men Who Care Whistler is designed to make an immediate positive effect on the lives of our neighbours by bringing together 100 (or more) men in Whistler who care about local community causes and who are committed to community strength. Our meetings are one hour in length and take place four times per year; beginning and ending with an optional beverage reception, allowing our members to mingle and network with like minded men in our community. Each meeting agenda includes three member nominated charities presenting their need for a financial donation, attending membership voting (majority wins) and a cheque presentation to the selected charity. Every member commits to donating $100 x 4 meetings per year = $40,000 per year to our local sea to sky community.

THE HISTORY OF 100 WHO CARE ALLIANCE

100 Women Who Care was started in November of 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, Michigan as a simple way to raise money quickly and efficiently for local charities. At their first one-hour meeting, the group of over 100 women each wrote a cheque for $100 directly to The Center for Family Health, their chosen local charity, raising $12,800 to buy 300 new baby cribs. Since then, chapters have formed all over the world. There are now more than 850 chapters either fully operational (600) or under development (more than 250) and they include women, men, people, kids, and teens chapters.

ABOUT 100 MEN WHO CARE WHISTLER

Founded by Chris Patrick in 2024, the 100 Men of Whistler is modelled after the 100 Women of Whistler founded in December of 2018 by Ashlie Girvan. When Ashlie first learned of the 100 Women Alliance she quickly recognized its simplicity and potential as a fundraising initiative and the positive impact it would have in our community. She then reached out to Kourtney McKercher, Ruth Barrow and Courtney Knight and together they joined forces as an organizing committee. Since its founding, the 100 Women of Whistler have been tremendously successful in meeting the funding needs of worthy causes in our community. Chris could see the positive impact that the 100 Women's Chapter was having and took the initiative to consult with Ashlie about the possibility of organizing a Men's Chapter. Ashlie was hugely supportive providing advice as well as encouragement. Chris then pulled it all altogether getting the word out to build membership as well as working through all the organizational details. The first Men's inaugural meeting took place on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
